Today, 1 in 68 children are diagnosed with autism in Ontario and 160,000 children are currently on the waitlist for funding to receive treatment. On average, these children wait for 2 – 4 years before they receive government assistance. Unfunded, autism treatment can cost a family $60,000 a year per child, a figure that is out of reach for most.
AIM helps children access autism services regardless of funding. Our subsidized programs are available to families on funding waitlists, so their children can access services during the early years when therapy is most effective.
Because we’re committed to helping as many children as possible, we maintain a low administrative expenditure of less than 7% with an average of 93% of donations going directly to support our programs.
At AIM, we believe all children deserve an equal opportunity to learn and develop. Donors, volunteers and sponsors are helping us make equal opportunity a reality for children with autism.
MAKE A DONATION
Your one-time or monthly contribution will help us deliver best-in-class autism services on a subsidized basis, for families who could not otherwise afford these costly treatments. Make a difference by donating today!
Charitable Registration Number: 83238 6635 RR0001. An electronic tax receipt will be e-mailed to you from CanadaHelps.org within minutes and is your official receipt for Canadian income tax purposes.
SPONSOR AN EVENT OR ROOM
AIM’s programs are dependent on the generous support of our sponsors, both private and corporate. Sponsors make our fundraising events possible and through our Sponsor-a-Room program, help us cover operational costs.
Our two main events are an annual Toonie 4 Autism fundraiser and Gala. Sponsors enjoy prominent profile in our fundraising materials, showing their support for Markham and demonstrating their care for the autistic children in our community. Contact us today if you or your organization would like to sponsor an event.
The Sponsor-A-Room program is an inspired opportunity for individuals and corporations to help children with autism reach their potential. Sponsors can choose from bronze, silver, gold and platinum options when they fund our Therapy Room, AIM Cafe, Sensory Integration Room or Social Program Room. Enjoy a plaque with your business name and public recognition of your generous support when you become a room sponsor. For more information on Sponsor-a-Room opportunities, contact us.
JOIN THE PARENTS COMMITTEE
Led by AIM parents, the committee orchestrates fundraising and social events. Monthly committee meetings are also a space for parents to build connections, encourage and support one another, and share strategies for dealing with daily challenges. Training and workshops for parents are offered through the committee, based on parents’ interests.
